The DigiLearn Bahamas program is being delivered in partnership with the University of The Bahamas (UB) and the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI). We offer free digital skills courses that are designed to meet varied professional development and personal interests learning needs.
Participants who successfully complete UB courses will receive certificates of completion. Persons enrolled in BTVI who successfully complete courses will receive digital badges, including CISCO certifications; for some courses they will receive certificates.
The DigiLearn Bahamas program represents a major milestone in our journey toward a digitally inclusive economy. Our goal is to prepare a digitally empowered workforce, one that can adapt and excel in a global market. By providing free, accessible education, we are investing in our people and our economy.
The University of The Bahamas is pleased to partner with the Digital Transformation Unit of the Ministry of Economic Affairs on this important project aimed at enhancing digital literacy. In today’s rapidly evolving world, having strong digital skills is essential for personal and professional success.
The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute is pleased to partner with this national initiative. Given the reality of the integrated digital ecosystems that permeate our everyday lives, it is our hope that this coordinated e-literacy effort will assist in leveling the digital learning playing field, bringing equity in digital opportunities to all our citizens.
Young Adults: High school seniors, college students, and early career professionals can gain the digital skills needed to stand out and advance early in their careers.
Mid-Career Professionals: Public and private sector employees can up-skill, explore new career opportunities, and improve efficiency in their current roles.
Seniors: Basic computer and digital skills can help retirees and older adults gain independence and stay connected, ensuring they navigate the digital world confidently.
The DigiLearn Bahamas program, delivered in partnership with the University of The Bahamas (UB) and the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI), offers free digital skills courses tailored to up-skill different demographics and learning needs. Participants will receive certificates of completion from UB and credentials from BTVI (specified courses) upon successfully finishing courses.
These courses will be modeled by the University of The Bahamas CELEARN to provide digitally focused professional and personal development courses
Basic Computer Skills for Beginners: Learn foundational digital skills to navigate and use computers effectively.
Microsoft Word Level I: Gain practical skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word for beginners and professionals.
Microsoft Word Level II: Advance your Microsoft Word skills for intermediate to advanced proficiency.
Microsoft Excel Level I: Learn the basics of Microsoft Excel for data entry, visualization, and analysis.
Microsoft Excel Level II: Enhance your spreadsheet and data analysis skills with advanced Excel techniques.
Microsoft PowerPoint Intermediate: Create engaging and professional presentations with PowerPoint.
Introduction to Coding: Build a strong foundation in Python programming with key concepts and practical applications.
Digital Skills for Everyday Life (Seniors Only): Help seniors gain confidence in navigating and using digital technologies daily.
These courses will be delivered in New Providence and Grand Bahama ONLY.
The programme will offer a series of 5 course stacks delivered via the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute from basic digital literacy to more advanced topics.
Digital Literacy I – Explore computer basics and connect to the internet while understanding networks.
Digital Literacy II – Master basic computer literacy, including software functions and document management.
Cybersecurity Essentials – Prepare for entry-level cybersecurity careers with hands-on training and certification.
Business Essentials – Gain foundational knowledge and practical skills to successfully run and manage a business.
E-Commerce Essentials – Learn the key strategies and tools to build, operate, and grow an online business.
Computer Skills for Senior Citizens is also offered, to equip seniors with digital literacy skills to navigate the internet and social media safely.
Available on New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco, Cat Island, Eleuthera, Exuma, and North Andros.
